September 12, 1918 at 0100 Hours- the beginning of the American assault to eliminate the Salient formed four years earlier by the valiant and brutal fighting of the French Army. Billy Mitchell's 1500 airplane armada, Colonel George Patton's Tank Attack, Douglas MacArthur and its 42nd Division were all part of this extraordinary battle led by General John Pershing as Commanding General of the American Expeditionary Force.
Along the road from Pont-a-Mousson, through Flirey, Seicheprey the US Divisions fought Northwards to meet the 26th Division at Vigneulles with the French Divisions engaged on the left flank. There you will see the Chateau of Hattonchatel fully restored after the war by the American Belle Skinner to all it’s former glory. The Memorial at the Butte of Montsec, built to honor the 7,000 American casualties of the four day battle, provides time for reflection along with the magnificent view of the plains of the Woevre and the beauty of the Meuse with it’s gently rolling hills. The visit will continue to the Verdun battlefield including the ossuary and the 130,000 unknow soldiers.
We propose a full day's visit. For more information and prices, contact us.
